We provide you with general information and details of how to make contact with the centre, but we shall not be responsible for the quality of any diagnosis or treatment given or for the failure to diagnose or treat any condition. We cannot advise or enter into correspondence about individual cases and we do not arrange or facilitate treatments.
Important note to all patients
Lung cancer can be treated in various ways, depending upon the type of cancer and what stage it has reached. Sometimes a combination of treatments is required.
MHL currently features the following specialist treatments for Lung Cancer
Proton therapy for lung cancer
Proton therapy can be applied wherever conventional radiotherapy can be used, but because the radiation is more closely focussed on the tumour(s) it greatly reduces the impact of radiation on sound tissue. It can also reduce distressing side effects which are often associated with radiotherapy for certain types of cancer.
Note: proton therapy can sometimes be applied to stubborn tumours even after the patient has received the maximum conventional radiotherapy.
MHL currently features the following centres providing proton therapy for lung cancer
Munich, Germany
Chicago, New Jersey and Oklahoma, USA
CyberKnife® radiosurgery for lung cancer
CyberKnife® radiosurgery is a highly flexible, but accurately-targeted form of radiation treatment which provides non-invasive therapy for certain types of cancer. It differs from radiotherapy in several important ways.
Over 100,000 patients worldwide have been treated with this system and it is now being adopted rapidly due to rising demand, as it becomes better known.
