Private medical centres
Klinik Hirslanden is the principal hospital of Switzerland's largest private healthcare provider and the Movement Clinic is concerned with all aspects of the human movement apparatus: bones, joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments. Changes in these may be congenital or the result of disease or 'wear and tear', or may arise from accidental injuries.
Ultramodern navigation systems are used in orthopaedic surgery, which assist the surgeon from the planning to the operation. Precise three-dimensional bone models are developed, e.g. during the implantation of hip and knee total endoprostheses. These enable the surgeons to place implants more precisely, with improved outcome for the patient.
MHL (Medilux Healthcare Ltd.) promotes individual hospitals or hospital groups which we believe offer high standards of care. We provide you with general information and details of how to make contact with the centre, but we shall not be responsible for the quality of any diagnosis or treatment given or for the failure to diagnose or treat any condition. We cannot advise or enter into correspondence about individual cases and we do not arrange or facilitate treatments.

What is traumatology?
Traumatology is concerned with the treatment of injuries, whether accidental or from assaults, including by surgery. It does not have to be immediate treatment however; it could be given some years after the initial injury.
Patients may receive treatment immediately after an accident or injury and this may be all that they need. In some cases however initial treatment or surgery may not be satisfactory or it may only be intended as a temporary solution until more expert care is obtained. This is especially true in conflict zones, where local treatment can be limited to stabilising the patient's condition.
In other cases, and particularly with children, treatment which was originally satisfactory can become problematic with time. Natural bone growth can give rise to increasing complications and this can mean that the initial surgery needs to be repeated or adapted to restore correct function.
Orthopaedic and Traumatology Centres
Making the right decision on where to go for treatment may affect the patient's pain or mobility for the rest of their lives. It is important to choose a centre which is specialised and experienced in the particular medical condition, whether or not this includes surgery,
Modern, well-equipped centres are also able to offer an increasingly wide range of surgery using minimally invasive techniques, including cartilage transplants or implants.
University Medical Centre Mainz, Germany
The University Medical Centre Mainz (Universitätsmedizin Mainz) is the teaching hospital of Johannes Gutenberg University, the fifth largest in Germany. With more than 1,000 doctors it treats over 62,000 inpatients per year.
The Department of Traumatology, Musculoskeletal and accident Surgery under Prof P.M. Rommens specialises in surgery of the hip, pelvis, shoulder, knee and hands. Wherever possible, the Dept. uses the latest minimally invasive techniques such as mini-arthrotomy and endoprosthetic treatments, including cartilage transplants and implants.
VIMC also specialises in sports medicine and orthopaedics, with the two of the most sophisticated and advanced operating theatres in Austria. Other treatments include minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery, thyroid and diabetes treatments and general health screening.
Vienna International Medical Clinic, Vienna, Austria
Vienna has an outstanding history of medical research and expertise and VIMC is a key player in Austrian plastic surgery, hosting Austria’s top specialists. It combines Viennese medical traditions with innovative medical technologies and provides a luxurious stay for international patients.
